Free Quickbooks training available
The Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives is partnering with the Southern University Center for Rural and Small Business Development and Disciple Baptist Church of Ville Platte, located on 1342 W. Beech St., to provide a one-day free Quickbooks software training Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.
With the installation of a computer lab, courtesy of the Center for Rural and Small Business Development Center located on the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center’s campus, the Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives offers free software training of various business tools to small business owners and entrepreneurs.
“In March we successfully implemented a test pilot of the Quickbooks training to St. Landry Parish business and non-profit owners” says LaVonya Malveaux, director of the Southwest Center. “As Evangeline Parish is included in the center’s 10-parish region, we anticipate similar offerings in its communities.”
Disciple Baptist Church became a recipient of a 10-stationed computer lab in December and will serve as a resource for the Ville Platte community. The course outline for this one full-day training will include Manual vs. Computerized Accounting; Versions of QuickBooks; Setting up Your Company; Entering Transactions and Navigating Quickbooks; Generating Reports; and, Payroll and Reporting on Quickbooks.
The Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives is a satellite entity of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Its mission is to promote socioeconomic development within a 10-parish region.
