A stolen generator was recovered by authorities within four hours after they received a phone call from a person on Crooked Creek Parkway.

Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives with the sheriff’s office, said the department received a complaint Thursday, March 13, of the generator being taken from underneath a carport. A report was taken over the phone and turned over the investigation. Dupre spoke with the victim and then was met by Sgt. Orvel Hale, a detective with the sheriff’s office. They contacted a suspect to discuss the missing generator. Dupre said Hale received a call from the other suspect. Hale advised him to meet the detectives at the sheriff’s office.

The detectives were able to complete the investigation and recover the generator, which was returned to its owner. As a result of the investigation, they charged Nicholas T. Fontenot, 17, 1120 Pine Meadows, Ville Plate, and John Brady, 20, 5585 Beaver Road, Oakdale, with theft over $500. Their bonds were set at $1,000 each.

Dupre said the detectives received the call at 2:52 p.m. and had completed the investigation by 7:30 p.m.

“It was successful,” Dupre said of the investigation.
