Got beef!
Sally Angelle
Once a week I visit the St. Martin Parish Animal Shelter and take pictures of adoptable pets to post on www.petfinder.com.
When I arrive for my weekly visit, Sara Glasgow, the animal shelter coordinator, is waiting outside to show me the newest resident, “Mr. Bully,” 1,500 pounds of beef on the hoof.
Glasgow received a call around 9 a.m. from the sheriff’s office about a loose bull on La. 82. A deputy had managed to tie the animal to a tree.
After a few hours Glasgow, cowhand Todd Dugas, and Constable David Dugas were finally able to trailer the beast.
Now Glasgow needs a favor.
“This bull likes to chase and I need to go in the back put him some feed, so get your cell phone with your finger on my number and keep Mr. Bully’s attention,” she says. “If he notices me, call.”
I kinda chuckle and wonder how fast Sara can run.
But she manages to put the feed out while I stand there talking baby talk to the mildly curious beast.
To Glasgow, it is just another day at the shelter. She will continue to care for the bull through the weekend until the owner could be located.
