Greenwald dies at the age of 79

CROWLEY – Isadore “Beau” Greenwald, 79, former prominent businessman and long time resident of Crowley died Wednesday evening, July 23, at American Legion Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 9 a.m. to service time.

He was born in DeRidder, Louisiana and moved to Crowley with his parents Ellis and Eula May Greenwald. He graduated from New Mexico Military Institute and received a degree in business administration from ULL, formerly SLI. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the Air Force for five years as a First Lieutenant. He owned several businesses including Cinderella Shop and Beau’s Menswear. He was active in many civic organizations, serving as president of Crowley Lions Club, a District Governor of the Lions Club, Crowley City Council, president of the Crowley Chamber of Commerce, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

Beau is survived by his wife of fifty years, the former Teddy Jean Robbins of Crowley; a son, Bill Greenwald and his wife, Pat of Andalusia, Alabama; a daughter, Grace-anne Greenblatt and her husband David of Dallas; a sister, Pat Sacks of Houston; six grandchildren, Drew Greenwald, Matt Greenwald, Grace Greenblatt, Caroline Greenblatt, Matthew Burgess and his wife Brooke, and Bradley Burgess.

He was an avid golfer, loving husband and grandfather, and a great friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
