Heritage Manor News: Spring cleaning
(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Janice Hardy, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
The weather was so nice this past weekend I decided it was time for spring cleaning. I live in the country on a little dirt road and my house gets dusty, inside and out! I started by opening up all of my windows and started with the closets first. I worked through the entire house and then turned to the outside. I have a small, three bedroom vinyl house. To clean it, I use a garden sprayer and bleach. I spray it down with the water hose and then the mixture of bleach and water. My house comes out looking like new.
If you have elderly loved ones or a handicapped loved one, you may offer to clean their home. I’m sure they would appreciate it a lot. For those who have loved ones in a nursing home or another kind of facility, I recommend you spring clean their closet. Go through their closet and chest of drawers and take out worn out clothing or things they have outgrown. Switch out clothes you have at home or if you can afford to, buy them a few new things. It will make them so happy. Not just to receive the new items, but to get a chance to visit with you.
