Basile runs wild over North Central 49-14

BASILE - It was the offensive explosion Basile had been waiting for and it came at the most important part of the season, as the Bearcats picked up a 49-14 District 5-1A opening win over the North Central Hurricanes.
With the win Basile moves to 2-4 on the year and 1-0 in district play.
Basile collected 285 yards of rushing in the game on 25 carries and had 372 yards of total offense. This was by far the best offensive output for the Bearcats all season long.
Basile put the game away early on in the contest, scoring 28 points before North Central could even sniff the end zone.
The Bearcats first points of the game came in the first quarter, as Lindon Berwick found himself on the receiving end of a 44-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Dawson Ashford. The extra point was blocked, but Basile held a 6-0 lead early in the contest.
It did not take long for the Bearcats to add to their lead, as running back Andre Reed bolted into the end zone from 15-yards out. Basile went for two, and Jarred Belle converted on the running play to put the Bearcats up 14-0.
Basile was not done scoring in the opening quarter, as Jarred Belle tacked on another score taking the handoff and punching it in from five-yards out. The extra point was good and the Bearcats led 21-0.
Ashford plunged in from one-yard out early in the second quarter to give Basile a 28-0 lead, after a converted extra point.
North Central managed to get on the board in the second quarter on a 46-yard jaunt from Wilshawn Willams. The two-point conversion was no good, but the lead was cut to 28-7.
Basile scored once again right before half, as Reed plunged in from five-yards out. The extra point was no good and the Bearcats held a 34-7 halftime lead.
Basile added scores in the third and fourth quarters each, while North Central tallied their final score late in the fourth quarter.
