Demons battle Kinder in last regular season game
The Mamou Green Demons have played about as hard as you can expect in a rebuilding year. The 1-8 Demons are coming off of a 52-28 loss to Lake Arthur this past Friday. However, the players from Mamou gave their usual hard fought effort, pushing the Tigers all the way into the latter part of the fourth quarter.
This week the Demons host the defending state champions, the Kinder Yellow Jackets. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Against the Tigers this past Friday, Mamou kept pace with the Tigers for most of the game. The Demons managed to accumulate 312 yards of total offense. The problem was that the defense gave up a whopping 465 yards of offense, all of it coming from the Lake Arthur run game. In fact, the Tigers scored every time they had possession in the second half.
On the night, the Demons were led on offense by senior quarterback Dylan Duplechin. Duplechin accounted for 108 yards rushing and 98 yards passing and one touchdown. Kendall Jack added 42 yards rushing and one touchdown.
The Kinder Yellow Jackets will come to Mamou perfect on the season with a 9-0 record. The Yellow Jackets average 40 points per game on offense and only give up 12 points per game on defense.
It will be a tall task for the Demons this Friday against Kinder. One thing is for sure, even with only one win, this season has been a positive for Mamou in terms of experience.
The Demons have played with heart all season and the seniors have really been a guiding influence on the younger players. With the coaching staff and hard working younger players back next season, the future looks bright in Demon land.
