Demons come up short in overtime loss to Bears
The Mamou Demons travelled to Church Point on Tuesday to take on the Bears. The Demons overcame a slow start to tie the game in the fourth quarter. The effort to send the game into overtime drained Mamou, as they fell 62-59 in the extra period.
The Demons had trouble scoring in the first quarter as they trailed 22-8 at the end of the period. The Bears added to their lead in the second quarter outscoring Mamou 19-11 and led 41-19 at the half. The Demon defense took control to open the second half, holding Church Point to only five points. Mamou was able to score 16 points in the quarter and only trailed by nine, cutting the Bear lead to 46-35. A 19-8 Demon advantage in the fourth period tied the contest at 54 apiece. In overtime, Mamou came up short in their bid to finish off a come from behind victory.
Leading the Demons in scoring was Russell Edward who poured in 23 points. Trey Wilson chipped in 11 points, while Lil Paul Williams tacked on another 11 points in the losing effort. With the loss Mamou moves drops to 2-7 on the year.
