Demons drop three games at Barbe Tourney

The Mamou Demons traveled to Lake Charles this past weekend to participate in the Barbe Buccaneer Tournament. The Demons faced off against some very tough competition and came away with a 0-3 record. Mamou is now 1-3 on the season. Here is a summary of the games played in the tourney.
On Friday, the Demons pushed across eight runs in the first tournament game, but could not hold back Leesville in a 14-8 loss. Mamou scored two in the first and two in the second but still trailed five to four at the end of three. The Wampus Cats plated four in the third to extend their lead to nine to four. The fifth inning saw the Demons outscore Leesville four to two, but still found themselves behind 11-8. The Wampus cats added three in the top of the seventh to close out the game.
Dylan Duplechin led all Demon hitters going one for two with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Chet Guillory was one for two with three runs batted in. Chris Pitre picked up the loss, throwing two completed innings, giving up seven runs on two hits. Pitre struck out two and walked one.
In Saturday’s first game, Mamou plated four runs, two in the first and two in the fifth in a 7-4 loss to the St. Louis Saints. The Saints were able to score multiple runs in three of the six innings at the plate in the win. Dylan Duplechin led all Demon batters with a two for three performance. Duplechin earned a run batted in while scoring a run. Austin Fontenot picked up the loss on the mound, throwing four innings, giving up five runs and striking out one
Saturday’s last tournament game had the Demons taking on the Iowa Yellow Jackets hoping to gain a win in the tournament. Mamou could only manage one run on two hits in a 4-1 loss to Iowa. The Demons picked up their only run in the game in the fourth inning when Dylan Duplechin scored on a Chet Guillory base hit. Guillory and Chris Pitre were both one for three at the plate for Mamou. Toby Fontenot took the loss for the Demons, throwing three innings. Fontenot surrendered three runs on four hits.
