Evangeline Parish weekly baseball round-up
The following are game summaries for baseball games played this past week by the parish baseball teams.
Sacred Heart
vs. Glenmora
On Tuesday, the Sacred Heart Trojans hosted Glenmora in a non-district contest. The Trojans came into the game riding a 10 game win streak. Sacred Heart added to that win streak defeating the Wildcats 6-1. Sacred Heart opened a 1-0 lead in the first inning, only to have Glenmora tie the game in the second. The Trojans took the lead for good in the third, adding another run. Sacred Heart plated another run in the fifth and tacked on four more runs in the sixth to seal the victory. Phillip Vidrine earned the win on the mound, throwing five complete innings. Vidrine allowed one run on three hits and struck out three. Keaton Tate led all Trojan hitters, going two for three with two runs scored.
Pine Prairie
vs. Avoyelles
The Pine Prairie Panthers took on the Avoyelles Mustangs on Saturday in the Westminster tournament. The Panthers opened the game with six runs in the first inning, run ruling the Mustangs 11-0. Pine Prairie added another run in the second, three more in the fourth and one more in the fifth to close out the game. Matthew Rougeau was three for four at the plate, with a run scored and a run batted in. Gaten Chaddrick and Josh Fontenot were both two for four. Zach Lee, Logan Blood and Fontenot all combined on the hill for the win.
