Kinder Yellow Jackets roll past Mamou Demons 57-20

KINDER -- Playing against one of the premier programs in class 2A is a tall task for any team, especially one that is already depleted with injuries.
Just ask the Mamou Demons (0-6, 0-2), as they fell hard to the defending state runners-up Kinder 57-20 in a District 4-2A contest Friday.
Kinder scored early and often against the Demons. The Yellow Jackets put up all of their points on the score board before Mamou could blink.
Kinder began the game with a two-yard rushing touchdown. After the extra point, the Yellow Jackets had a 7-0 lead.
The Kinder defense got involved in the action, producing a safety midway through the first quarter, making the score 9-0.
Three more touchdowns in the first quarter added to the Yellow Jacket lead.
Kinder scored on runs of 50 and 40 yards and tacked on a 28-yard touchdown pass to go up 30-0 at the end of the opening period.
Kinder put up 19 more points in the second quarter to increase their lead to 49-0.
The Yellow Jackets collected touchdown runs of 20 and 56 yards and returned an interception back 11 yards for their three scores.
Continuing the theme of the first half, the Yellow Jackets added a three yard rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion to extend thier lead to 57-0 at the beginning of the third quarter.
Mamou finally got some offensive momentum in the second half, scoring 20 points before the conclusion of the game.
Demon sophomore running back Jaylen Griffith blasted through the line for touchdown runs of 50 and 70 yards to put Mamou on the board for the first time of night.
Joab Perron added another touchdown run of 45 yards to close out the Mamou scoring in the fourth quarter.
Griffith ended the night with 128 yards rushing, while Perron collected 107 yards on the ground.
