Lady Demons blanked by Fisher

Going into their second round game with Fisher, the Mamou Lady Demons felt as though they had a good chance to win. After all, Mamou had faced tougher competition and seemed to have the talent to win that game. On paper, it was looking good for Head Coach Kim Manuel and her group of heavy hitters.
Fisher was excited to host their second game in a row and the Lady Gators showed it.
Mamou is known for having strong hitters and being able to produce runs at a high rate. However, Fisher’s ace managed to hold Mamou down. Kassilynn Rojas did the job for Fishter. She gave up just three hits to the power hitting Lady Demons.
After Mamou was retired in the first three trips to the plate, Rojas made them pay at the plate. She came to the plate in the bottom of the third inning with runners on the pads. With one out a double and a walk set the stage for Rojas. She ripped a shot into center field that pushed two runs across the dish. That would end up being the deciding score.
Mamou threatened in the top of the fourth inning. They loaded the pads with two outs, but a ground out to third base killed the would-be rally.
After that point in the game, it seemed as though the wind had been taken out of the Lady Demons’s sails. They went down in order throughout the remainder of the game.
Rojas pitched as though she was on a mission after she got out of the fourth inning jam. She fanned only one batter but was the benefit of some very good defense.
Mamou hit the ball well against Rojas. Unfortunately for the Lady Demons, each time they hit it hard, they would hit right at a Fisher defender.
Mamou’s Amber Manuel had a very good game. She went all six innings, giving up just a handful of hits and fanning nine batters. The three hits came back to haunt the local girls as they saw their season end early.
Mamou ends the 2014 season with an 18-8 overall record. They will graduate just two seniors, which should set the stage for a promising season in 2015.
