Lady Trojans come up short against Tensas

Sacred Heart went to Tensas and gave the higher seed all they could handle. The game started out a little lopsided, but before too long the Lady Trojans were right in it. One factor that did not fair well for the local girls was the “zebras.” The refs whistled the SHHS girls 22 times compared to THS, who were whistled just seven times.
Sacred Heart found themselves down early, 19-9, in the first period. Courtney Cloud drained a pair of shots to help the Lady Trojans out. Tensas battled back and managed to take the lead.
In the second period, SHHS was held to just six points but they also held Tensas to the same. It was good enough to really slow the game down, which was a big part of the SHHS game plan. Gabbie Andrepont got big for the local girls. She sank a pair of shots in the frame.
Down 25-15 at the mid-way point, Sacred Heart answered in a hurry with 14 points. They were out-scored by the home team, who scored 17 digits. Heather Johnson drilled a pair of three-point bombs and Andrepont hit a pair of jump shots.
Down 42-29, SHHS had to do something. They battled back as hard as they could and out-scored Tensas 15-9. The surge made it a 51-44 final, but Tensas knew they were in a fight. Heather Fontenot hit a pair of shots in the frame and Johnson added another three-point shot. Andrepont remained hot and determined, knocking down another three shots. She ended the night with 10 points, along with Johnson and Cloud.
