Mamou ends season with tough 24-20 loss

VINTON - In one of the closest games of the year for Mamou, the Demons fell to the Vinton Lions in a hard fought 24-20 loss.
Mamou battled the entire game, even taking a two-point lead into the locker room, something they had not done all season long.
The Demons got on the board first when senior running back Joab Perron scooted into the end zone from seven yards out. The extra point was good and Mamou held a 7-0 lead.
The Demons expanded on that lead putting up another score in the first quarter. This time is was Shawn Malveau who motored in from 23 yards. With the PAT, Mamou held a 14-0 lead.
Vinton answered with a run of three touchdowns in a row. The first score was a five-yard run in the first quarter. The Lions tacked on two more touchdowns in the second quarter on a fouryard run and 53-yard interception return to take an 18-14 lead.
Mamou regained that lead 20-18 late in the second quarter with a 15-yard pass from Ronnie McBride to Perron.
Vinton scored their game winning touchdown in the third with a four-yard run.
Mamou finished 0-10 for the second year in a row.
