MAMOU – Facing another top five team in Class 2A, the Mamou Demons have not had an easy go of it for the second week in a row, as they fell hard to the Welsh Greyhounds 42-2 here Friday night.
Mamou was coming off of a rough outing against Kinder last week, a game in which they were out gained 312-178 in the yardage department.
Well, things were just as tough this week, as the Demons were once again behind in total yardage as the Greyhounds 290 yards to Mamou’s 199 yard.
It did not take long for Welsh to get on the board, as they took the opening kick off 70 yards for the touchdown.
The Greyhounds added another score in the first quarter on a one-yard run and tacked on two more scores in the second quarter to take a 28-2 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw much of the same, as Welsh added a 23-yard run and a 3-yard run, both going for touchdowns.
Mamou’s lone points came in the first quarter when Shawn Malveaux sacked the Welsh quarterback in the end zone for the safety.
With the loss Mamou falls to 0-8 on the year and will travel to DeQuincy this coming Friday night.
