Mamou Lady Demons overpower Kinder Friday

The Kinder Lady Jackets traveled to Big Mamou to take on the Lady Demons. Mamou won the battle by a final score of 64-36.
The first period saw both teams come out ice cold, as they missed their first 14 shots combined. Kinder would strike first with a lay-up. Mamou’s Darelzray Bellard answered with two three-pointers, giving the Lady Demons a 6-2 lead with only four minutes remaining in the first period. Mamou went on a 14-2 run to end the first period with a 20-4 lead.
The second period started off with Ka’Zhana Richard making a three-pointer for the Lady Demons. After both teams traded baskets, Mamou led 25-8 with 5:02 left until halftime. The Lady Green Demons defense tightened allowing them to go on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes and extend their lead to 36-8. Mamou’s Caitlin Thomas scored six points in the frame giving the Green Demons a 40-10 lead at halftime.
The third period saw Mamou’s offense come on fire, with Richard scoring five straight points. Kinder’s Chloe Dickens scored 14 points. The Lady Green Demons were held scoreless for the rest of the period. At the end of three quarters, Mamou led by a score of 47-24.
In the final period, both teams traded buckets all the way until the buzzer. The Lady Green Demons were led by Arkieyanah Thomas in the fourth period with six points.
On the night, Mamou was led on offense by Ka’Zhana Richard with 21 points. Also, Arkieyanah Thomas finished behind her with 14 points for the night.
The Lady Green Demons will travel to Dequincy on Tuesday, for their next district game.
