McKinney, Doulet lead 5-3A platoon
It was an amazing playoff season for the Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs. They placed second in the Class 3A in the State of Louisiana and finished the year with an amazing of 31-3 and won District 5-3A with a record of 10-0.
The Lady Bulldogs were unmatched in the league and no team came close. It was an easy choice for Most Valuable Player and Coach of the Year when it came to the All-District teams.
Deja McKinney, a junior, averaged over 26 points a game and seemed just as unstoppable on defense. She made steals and battled hard for rebounds. She was a unanimous choice for MVP by the league coaches.
Joining McKinney at the top spot on the league team was VPHS Coach Dot Doulet. She helped get the Lady Bulldogs to the league title and into the Class 3A State Championship game.
A youngster made her presence known this year for the Lady Bulldogs. Tyreonna Doucet was a full-time starter and found herself as the kingpin on the Lady Bulldogs squad. She was the driving force in the rebound department and the leader in blocked shots. The freshman was amongst the team leaders in scoring and turnovers. She joined McKinney as a member of the first team All-District 5-3A squad.
Shalinda Thomas and Breanna Pete were named to the All-Defensive team in the district. Thomas, a senior, will be missed because of her defense and her leadership skills.
Emanee Fontenoot, Ja’Kyrah Thomas, Kabreonna Stevens and Miya McKinney each recieved Honorable Mention on the league team.
