Parish basketball players receive all-district honors

Several basketball players from across Evangeline Parish have been honored by being named to their respective all-district teams.
Starting in District 5-3A, both the Ville Platte Bulldogs and the Lady Bulldogs were able to get players placed on the first team.
For the district champion Lady Bulldogs, three outstanding players were named to the first team; Kealogah Calvin, Miya McKinney and Kabreonna Stevens
Calvin was also named the Most Valuable Player.
Garnering a spot on the all-defensive team was Makayla Ardoin.
Earning honorable mention spots were Jasmine Landry and Jalaya Thomas.
The Bulldogs were fortunate enough to have one player named to the first team, Kelian Semien.
Picking up second team honors was Tyran Jones.
Martin Jason was selected to the all-defensive team, while Brandon Thomas and Shanicole Holland were honorable mention selections.
The Pine Prairie Panthers had one second team selection in Sylus Carson.
Vontrevius Thomas was named to the all-defensive team.
The Lady Panthers also had a second team player; Tori Bordelon. Brittany Bellard was named to the all-defensive team for the Lady Panthers.
In District 4-2A, the Mamou Demons picked up two first team selections; Russell Edwards and Lil Paul Williams. Honorable Mention selections included Trey Wilson, Luke Thomas and Jaquaylon Arvie.
The Lady Demons collected two first team selections; Arkeiyanah Thomas and Darelzray Bellard.
Thomas was also voted as the MVP of the district.
Second team honors went to Kiajah Wilson, while Caitlan Thomas, Kamaneisha Wilson, Tia Gallow and Ka’zhana Richard were honorable mention selections.
In District 5-2A, the Sacred Heart Trojans had forward Keaton Tate named to the first team, with Jacques Fontenot on the all-defensive team and Seth Shipp as an honorable mention player.
The Lady Trojans were honored with two first team selections; Gabbie Andrepont and Kara Aguillard.
Catherine Poche and Erin Fontenot were named to the second team, while Moira Parks was an all-defensive selection.
Earning honorable mention slots were Mary Margaret Gil, Andie Landry, Whitney Tate and Sydney Shiver.
The Basile Lady Bearcats had one first team 5-1A selection in Rylie James.
