Pine Prairie boys pick up huge win; Mamou girls continue to roll

Here is a recap on games played Tuesday night.
Pine Prairie (G)
vs. Northwest
Another bad outing in the fourth quarter spelled doom for Pine Prairie in their 52-46 district loss to Northwest in Prairie Rhonde.
The Lady Panthers could not hold a 26-21 halftime lead, as the Lady Raiders outscored Pine Prairie 21-10 in the final quarter.
Brittany Bellard led the Lady Panthers with 11 points.
Pine Prairie falls to 7-15 on the year and 2-6 in district.
Pine Prairie (B)
vs. Northwest
In a thrilling district overtime win, the Pine Prairie Panthers slid past the Northwest Raiders 67-66 to stay in playoff contention.
Pine Prairie held a 29-26 edge at the half and used a four point effort from Sylus Carson to pull out the win in the extra frame.
Carson led all Panthers with 19 points, while Douglas Fontenot added 18 points.
Pine Prairie improves to 12-6 on the year and 3-3 in district play.
Mamou (G) vs. Welsh
The Mamou Lady Demons continued to roll in District 4-2A with a resounding 58-21 win over the Welsh Lady Greyhounds.
Mamou left no doubt after the first quarter, as the Lady Demons held the Lady Greyhounds scoreless to take an 11-0 lead right out of the gates.
Ka’Zhana Richard was the leading scorer for the Lady Demons with 15 points. Darelzeray Bellard chipped in 11 points for Mamou in the win.
The Lady Demons are now 21-8 on the season and are a perfect 8-0 in district.
Mamou (B) vs. Welsh
On a last second shot in overtime, the Mamou Demons fell for the first time in district play in a 55-54 loss to the Welsh Greyhounds.
Mamou lead 32-26 at the half, but squandered the lead in the second half.
In overtime, the Greyhounds hit a desperation bucket as time expired to defeat the Demons.
Lil Paul Williams netted 21 points and Russell Edwards chipped in 17 for Mamou in the loss.
Mamou falls to 13-13 on the year and 6-1 in district.
Sacred Heart (G)
vs. Opelousas Catholic
The Lady Trojans dropped another district contest Tuesday night in their 46-37 loss to the Lady Vikings.
Sacred Heart was lead by Kara Aguillard, who scored 15 points.
The Lady Trojans are now 13-9 and 3-3 in district play.
