Pine Prairie extends historic win streak to three games

SCOTLANDVILLE -- History has been made in the annals of Panther football history.
For the first time ever, Pine Prairie High School has won three games in a row after a 28-6 victory over the Tara Trojans.
The Panthers now stand at 3-2 on the season and will host the Northwest Raiders in the first district game for both teams this coming Friday night.
“I am so excited for this football team,” stated an elated Panther head coach Yves Prince. “They have worked so hard for this and deserve a chance to celebrate this win. We will savor this moment until Monday when we have to get back to work to prepare for Northwest.”
Pine Prairie jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after one quarter of play.
Quarterback Dylan Doucet got the Panthers going with a 37-yard touchdown run for the first score of the night.
Joshua Fontenot added the extra point and with 5:52 left in the first quarter, Pine Prairie led 7-0.
The Panthers got the ball back with 3:57 left in the opening quarter. Once again Doucet led Pine Prairie on an eight play 40-yard drive that consumed the rest of the period.
As the first quarter ended, Doucet plunged in from five yards out for the score. Fontenot was true on the extra point and the Panthers had now extended their lead to 14-0.
Tara High School put up their only points of the night in the second quarter on a Patrick Arnold eight-yard run. The extra point was blocked and the Panthers took the 14-6 lead into the locker room.
Doucet guided the Panthers on another scoring drive in the third quarter. This time Pine Prairie marched 58 yards in 12 plays capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by Doucet.
The extra point was good by Fontenot, giving the Panthers the 21-6 lead.
Doucet scored his fourth touchdown of the night on another one-yard run in the fourth quarter, after Pine Prairie took the ball 36 yards on seven plays.
Again the extra point was good, giving the Panthers the 28-6 win.
Doucet ended the night with 121 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns. Douglas Fontenot added another 114 yards on 24 carries.
