Pine Prairie is on a roll. The Panthers have won back-to-back games for the first time in their program history and are building momentum and confidence with every game.
Pine Prairie hopes to continue their winning ways as they travel to take on class 4A Tara High School this coming Friday night in Baton Rouge. The Trojans are 0-4 on the season. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
This past Friday, the Panthers were nearly unstoppable, racking up 430 yards rushing in a 47-6 win over Mamou.
In that game dual threat backs Douglas Fontenot and Dylan Doucet combined for 368 of those rushing yards.
“It does not matter who scores or who gets the most yards,” said Panther head coach Yves Prince. “We are playing like a true team right now. Douglas and Dylan can only things if the other players on offense are doing their job. The offensive line and the fullbacks, like Joshua Fontenot are doing a great job of blocking for those guys.”
In order for Prince and the Panthers to continue on this win streak, Pine Prairie will have to use the same formula that has worked the past two weeks.
“We are going to have to continue to run the ball effectively,” stated Prince. “This week we get a few players back that did not play last week. That is going to help us especially on the defensive front.”
“Tara wants to throw the ball, but I think they are more effective when they run it. We will have to do a better job of keeping the offensive linemen off of our linebackers this week.”
