Pine Prairie splits league games
The Lady Panthers of Pine Prairie maintained their position right in the middle of the Class 3A power ratings by splitting a pair of league games last week. They fell to Church Point, but managed to rebound and get the win over Livonia.
They lost 8-2 to the Lady Bears of CPHS. Church Point went up 4-1 in the first inning and never looked back from that point.
In the top of the first inning, the local girls scored the first of two runs. Raney Ardoin singled and crossed the dish on a single and an error from Alyssa Jackson.
In the top of the third inning, PPHS added their other run. Ardoin reached on an error and scored on a single from Megan Harvey.
Pine Prairie slid by Livonia 6-4. Alexis Hammond took the win in the circle and she was 2-3 at the plate with a double.
PPHS scored five runs in the first inning. It all started with Ardoin’s double after seeing just one pitch. Jackson followed with a walk, and Harve drove in two runs with a single. Sabrina Fontenot kept the inning going when she reached on an error and drove in another run. Shaina Boutee ripped a triple, driving in another run to make it a 4-0 contest. She scored on a fielders choice from Julia Chaddrick.
Livonia added four runs in the third inning, but it was not enough to make the comeback.
Pine Prairie will host Northwest today and then face off against Sacred Heart next Tuesday in a non-district contest.
