As the 2015-16 basketball season winds down for the parish teams, the playoffs loom big.
Several parish teams are locks for post season play, but for others how the season is completed will be a determining factor if a playoff berth is in the cards and in what position the teams will be placed.
In District 5-3A, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs will definitely be in the post season. As of Tuesday, Ville Platte stood as the number 15 ranked team. A playoff for first place against Eunice tonight will go a long way in determining their position when the brackets are released on Monday.
On the boys side of District 5-3A, neither Pine Prairie or Ville Platte can catch Eunice for the title. However, much is on the line for both squads in the last two games of the regular season.
Ville Platte stands at number 30 and Pine Prairie at number 33 in the power rankings as of Tuesday. A team must be in the top 32 to be in the playoffs.
These two teams will face off tomorrow night in what would seem to be a must win for both clubs.
In District 4-2A, the Mamou Lady Demons can wrap up the district title tonight, as they host their rival the Lake Arthur Lady Tigers.
Mamou is currently number eight in the power rankings and are hoping to improve upon that.
The Mamou Demons have only one loss in district and not only hope to earn the title in the next few games, but also improve on their number 26 ranking.
The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans are in the playoffs once again and will wrap up the season this Friday needing a win to gain some extra power points to improve on their number 26 ranking before the playoffs begin next week.
