Playoffs set for parish girl’s basketball teams
The brackets are made and the games are set for the 2015 LHSAA girl’s basketball playoffs. Evangeline Parish is well represented in this year’s chase for the championship. In class 3A the Ville Platte High Lady Bulldogs won the district championship and grabbed the number two seed.
The Mamou Lady Demons were district runner-up and earned the number 13 seed in class 2A. The parish is fortunate enough to have two teams in the class 1A playoffs. The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Basile Lady Bearcats will go into the post season as the number 22 and 19 seeds respectively.
Ville Platte will begin the run for the title tonight as they host the Abbeville Lady Wildcats. Game time is set for 6:30. If the Lady Bulldogs win and move on to the next round, they would face the winner of the Iota/Caldwell Parish game in the regional round.
Sacred Heart will have to travel for their first round game. The Lady Trojans will be on the road tonight as they take on the Madison Prep Lady Chargers in Baton Rouge. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start. A win would put Sacred Heart in a regional matchup with the Tensas/White Castle winner.
The Lady Bearcats start their playoff experience traveling to district opponent Grand Lake High School. Basile will play tonight at 6:00 against the Lady Hornets. A victory would place the Lady Bearcats in a regional game against the West St. John/Ascension Christian winner.
The Lady Demons begin the playoffs by hosting the Northeast Lady Vikings out of Pride, Louisiana tonight. Game time will be at 6:00. Mamou would face off against the Redemptorist/Lakeview winner in regional action if they can come away with the victory Thursday.
