Both the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Basile Lady Bearcats took to the hard court Monday night in the bi-district round of the LHSAA basketball playoffs.
Unfortunately, neither team could find their way to victory and were eliminated after first round losses.
Here is a rundown of those two games played.
Sacred Heart
vs. North Caddo
Sacred Heart had the unenviable task of taking on the No. 1 team in Class 2A on their home court.
North Caddo did not waste any time against the Lady Trojans, jumping out to a commanding 21-0 lead after one quarter of play.
Sacred Heart was able to get on track offensively in the second quarter, scoring 10 points. However, North Caddo added 20 more points to extend their lead to 31 points as the half ended.
The Lady Trojans could not gain any traction on offense in the final two quarters, only netting 13 total points in the second half.
Whitney Tate produce six points to lead Sacred Heart.
The Lady Trojans finish the year with an overall record of 15-11.
Basile vs. Homer
A tremendous season under the leadership of first year head coach Carmen Langley came to a close Monday night in Basile, as the Lady Bearcats fell to Homer High School 54-40.
It was a tale of two halves for Basile. The Lady Bearcats dominated the first half, outscoring Homer 25-14 and felt good about their game plan.
The third quarter was tight, with Homer outpacing Basile 12-10.
For the Lady Bearcats, regrettably, the final period did not go well. With Basile team leader Rylie James fouling out, the Lady Pelicans were able to take advantage of a young Basile squad left on the floor and posted a 28-5 advantage to walk away with the victory.
James led all Lady Bearcats with 14 points on the night.
Basile finishes their season with an overall record of 18-10.
