Sacred Heart, Pine Praire earn victories

The softball and baseball season have just begun to heat up and teams from across the parish are trying to grind out wins for those very important power points.
On Monday a trio of parish teams parish teams were on the diamond to take on opponents in non-district contests.
The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans traveled to Alexandria to face the Bolton Lady Bears, while the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers hosted the Plainview Lady Hornets.
Meanwhile across town from the Lady Panthers, the Pine Prairie baseball team defended their turf against Avoyelles Charter.
Here is a recap of those games.

Sacred Heart vs. Bolton
The Lady Trojans exploded in the fifth inning for five runs en route to a 10-5 win over the Lady Bears.
Sacred Heart led 2-0 at the end of the first inning. Bolton cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second, plating a single run.
The Lady Trojans added eight more runs over the next three innings to close out the game.
Bolton managed to score three in the fifth and one in the seventh to close the gap.

Pine Prairie vs. Plainview
The Lady Panthers got two hits apiece from Jacie McFarlain and Sara Tate in a 7-3 win over the Lady Hornets.
Karli Ortego went the distance for Pine Prairie on the mound, striking out 11 and allowing seven hits.

Pine Prairie vs. Avoyelles Charter
The Panthers collected seven hits, including one double in their 5-4 comeback win over Avoyelles Charter.
The Vikings jumped out to a 1-0 after one inning and held a 4-3 lead at the end of the fourth inning.
The Panthers tied the game in the fifth and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the victory.
