SHHS softball getting on track

After a slow start, the Lady Trojans of Sacred Heart rebounded to get a pair of wins over Pitkin High School. Sacred Heart dropped 10-0 losses to Iota and Mamou and then fell to Comeaux 8-7. The three straight losses moved Sacred Heart to 1-3 on the season. However, the SHHS girls rebounded and took an 8-2 and 1-0 win over PHS to improve to 3-3 on the season.
In the one-run loss to Comeaux, the Lady Trojans managed to stay in the game until the very end. Heather Johnson (3-4 2R), Taylor Perry (2-3 2R) and Elizabeth Soileau (3-3 2R) each scored in the first inning.
In the second frame, SHHS plated four more runs on a series of hits, including a double from Gabbie Andrepont (2-3 1R). Comeaux fired back and took the lead later in the game and went on to earn the win.
SHHS earned an 8-2 over Pitkin. The Lady Tigers took a 1-0 lead, but it would not last long. The Lady Trojans rattled off a pair of runs in the second inning and never looked back.
Andrepont led the charge, going 3-3 with a double and scoring once. Johnson was 3-4 with a pair of doubles and she scored three times. Perry and Soileau were each 2-4 at the plate. Perry hit a double in the third inning. Logan Shipp also doubled and scored in the game.
Malorie Limoges earned the win in the circle.
In their second match-up, the Lady Trojans earned a 1-0 win over the PHS girls. Elizabeth Soileau took the win in the circle in this one.
Sacred Heart scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning in front of their home crowd. Perry (2-3) singled with two outs. Moments later, a triple from Heather Johnson pushed Perry across the dish to make it a 1-0 contest.
Sacred Heart will host Westminster Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
