Sweeps abound for Ville Platte and Pine Prairie Friday night

It was a sweet night for both Ville Platte High and Pine Prairie High, as each experienced doubleheader sweeps in their district match-ups Friday night.
In Port Barre, the Bulldogs outscored the Red Devils in every quarter but one to take a 63-50 win, while the Lady Bulldogs had four players score in double digits to roll past the Lady Red Devils 69-52.
Meanwhile in Pine Prairie, the Panthers used an 18-3 advantage in the third quarter to slide past the Church Point Bears 68-55 and the Lady Panthers cruised past the Lady Bears 41-25.

Ville Platte (G)
vs. Port Barre
Ville Platte fell behind early and trailed 12-10 after one quarter of play. However, the Lady Bulldogs mounted an offensive explosion in the next two quarters, scoring 55 points and taking a 65-24 lead at the end of the third period.
Tyreonna Doucet put up 20 points for Ville Platte, while Kealogah Calvin added 14 and Makayla Ardoin and Miya McKinney each chipped in 11 points.
Ville Platte is now 23-7 on the season and 9-0 in district.
Ville Platte (B)
vs. Port Barre
After jumping ahead 19-15 in the first quarter, the Red Devils out muscled the Bulldogs 16-12 in the next period.
Ville Platte regained control of the game in the final two quarters, outscoring Port Barre 32-19 to take home the win.
Jamal Byers led the Bulldogs with 11 points and Martin Jason added 10 points.
Ville Platte is now 20-6 on the season and 6-1 in district play.
Church Point (G)
vs. Pine Prairie
It was the Pine Prairie defense that stole the show Friday night. The Lady Panthers held Church Point to single digits in every quarter, as they led 27-10 at the half and 30-16 at the end of three quarters of play.
Tori Bordelon led Pine Prairie with 15 points.
The Lady Panthers improve to 14-8 overall and 6-3 in district.
Church Point (B)
vs. Pine Prairie
Darnell Durgin scorched the nets for 28 points, with 21 of those points coming on three-point baskets to lead the Panthers.
Pine Prairie led 14-12 after one quarter of play and 27-24 heading into the locker room.
The third quarter spelled the difference for the Panthers, as they outpaced the Bears 18-3 in the third quarter.
With the win, Pine Prairie is now 14-3 on the year and 3-4 in district
