Trojan baseball team picks up first win

In one of the few games able to be played around the area due to weather conditions, the Sacred Heart Trojans picked up their first baseball win of the season. The Trojans used a six-run first inning to propel themselves to a 12-2 win over the Marksville Tigers.
Sacred Heart’s Phillip Vidrine sat down the Tigers in order to open the game. The Trojans earned six runs in the bottom half of the first to take the 6-0 lead. Marksville managed to pick up a run in the top of the second.
Sacred Heart matched their offensive production in the third inning, picking up six more runs. The Trojans were able to blank the Tigers in the next two innings, forcing the 10-run rule to come into effect.
Vidrine earned the win for Sacred Heart, throwing two complete innings. He gave up one run on one hit and struck out four. Vidrine did not give up a walk in the two innings of work.
Offensively, the Trojans were led by Brandon Hudspeth, who went three for three and scored two runs. Keaton Tate was one for two, including a grand slam home run. Jacob L. Lafleur was also one for two with a two-run home run.
Sacred Heart is 1-0 on the year and was scheduled to participate in the Oak Hill tournament this weekend.
