Trojans blaze through first three games
Sacred Heart blasted through their first three games of the season by a combined score of 34-0 against Hamilton Christian, Merryville and Pine Prairie. The Trojans are looking to sharpen their skills as they march towards a grueling district schedule.
The Trojans destroyed Hamilton Christian 18-0 while participating in the Oberlin Tournament.
Philip Vidrine got the win on the hill. He went four innings and fanned seven batters. John LaHaye got the save.
SHHS picked up four runs in the first inning, five runs in the second inning and seven in the fourth. Brandon Hudspeth led the charge on offense. He went 3-4 with a trio of RBIs and a double. Evan Mire also went 3-4 at the stick with a double and he scored three times. Ellis Parrott hit a perfect 2-2 and scored twice. Garrick Fontenot also banged out a double in the game.
SHHS slid by Merryville 6-0. The Panthers were handcuffed by Andy Lafleur who hurled a no-hitter in six innings of work. He fanned nine batters in his tenure and Wesley Fontenot took home the save.
At the plate, Mire and Hudspeth each went 2-3. Mire scored twice and Hudspeth slapped a double. Lafleur helped his cause with a triple in the second inning. Fontenot did his duty at the plate by going 2-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
Sacred Heart hosted Pine Prairie last week and belted the Panthers by a score of 10-0 to improve to 3-0.
John LaHaye took the win on the hill. He worked four innings and fanned five batters in the process. Fontenot earned another save by shutting down the Panthers in the fifth inning.
At the plate, the Trojans scored three runs in the first inning and then iced the game with seven runs in the fourth block.
Keaton Tate and Fontenot each doubled in the fourth block. Fontenot drove home three runs in the game. Andy Lafleur was a perfect 2-2 with the stick. He ripped a double and also pushed home three runs.
Sacred Heart battled Breaux Bridge Tuesday and will be participating in the Eunice Tournament this weekend. The Trojans will be battling tough teams all weekend long.
