Turkey Tournament concludes; Lady Trojans capture title

The final day of the 2015 Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament took place this past Wednesday, with two local teams taking home some hardware.
The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans were a force throughout the tournament, taking home the first place trophy with their win in the finals against the Basile Lady Bearcats.
Also, the Sacred Heart Trojans and the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers were both able to win in the consolation finals on Wednesday.
Here is a recap of the final day of play in the tournament.

Crowley (G) vs. Pine Prairie
In the girl’s consolation finals, the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers slipped past the Crowley Ladies 37-36 for the win.
Pine Prairie led Crowley 11-4 at the end of the first quarter and 13-8 at the end of the second quarter.
Crowley tried to mount a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Pine Prairie 19-9 in the third quarter. But the Lady Panthers went on a 15-5 run in the final quarter to get the win.
Kayla Lazard led all Lady Panthers with nine points.

Basile (B) vs. Sacred Heart
In the boy’s consolation finals, the Sacred Heart Trojans came back from a first quarter deficit to defeat the Basile Bearcats 51-48.
Basile held a 14-9 led at the end of the first quarter, with six of those points coming from Trae Brocy.
Sacred Heart would not go away, outscoring the Bearcats 15-11 in the second quarter to cut the Basile lead to one as the first half buzzer sounded.
Seth Shipp popped the nets for seven points in the third quarter to give the Trojans a 37-35 lead as the third quarter came to a close.
It was back and forth in the final quarter, with Sacred Heart outpacing the Bearcats by one point to take the victory.
Keaton Tate was the high scorer for Sacred Heart, pumping in 20 points.
Brocy led Basile with 13 points.

Basile (G) vs. Sacred Heart
In the girl’s championship game, the Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Bearcats in every quarter but the fourth in a 53-48 win.
Sacred Heart jumped out to a 16-12 lead after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Basile’s Rylie James tried to rally the Lady Bearcats, scoring nine points to keep the score 31-25 in favor of Sacred Heart at the half.
The Lady Trojans got two three-pointers from Andie Landry in the third quarter to extend their lead to 47-35.
Basile finished with a flurry, outscoring Sacred Heart 13-6 in the final quarter, but it was too late.
Gabbie Andrepont led all Lady Trojans with 14 points.
James netted 24 points for Basile in the loss.

Crowley (B) vs. Iota
In the boys finals, the Crowley Gents took the trophy home with a 61-40 win over the Iota Bulldogs.
