Turkey Tournament kicks off Monday at SHS gym

The annual Sacred Heart High School Turkey Tournament will begin on Monday at the Sacred Heart gym. The 2014 version contains seven boys teams and six girls teams. The tournament includes several parish teams as well as teams from around the area.
On Monday, the tournament kicks off with girls’ action, as Opelousas Catholic will face Oakdale at 9:30 a.m. The second game of the day opens boys’ bracket play as Pine Prairie will face Notre Dame at 11 a.m.
The 12:30 p.m. contest will pit St. Edmund against the Pine Prairie girls. At 2 p.m., another boys game will see Oakdale face off against Iota. The Mamou Lady Demons will take on the winner of the Opelousas Catholic/Oakdale winner at 3:30 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the Crowley High Gents will play the winner of the Pine Prairie/Notre Dame winner. The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans take to the floor to play the winner of the St. Edmund/Pine Prairie winner at 6:30 p.m.
Rounding out Monday’s play, the Sacred Heart Trojans will face the St. Edmund Blue Jays at 8 p.m.
The tournament will continue on Tuesday with some elimination games as well as winner bracket games. Tuesday’s action will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the last game of the evening is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
The tournament concludes on Wednesday with loser’s bracket action to begin at 9:30 a.m. The finals are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. for the girls bracket and 5 p.m. for the boys’ bracket.
