Fomer Sacred Heart High School baseball standout pitcher, Phillip Vidrine, has made it official. The 2015 class 2A first team all-state selection will continue his diamond career at Louisiana College in the fall. Vidrine chose the Division III school over a handful of other colleges.
Vidrine gave some personal reasons for choosing Louisiana College. “I really felt at home when I visited the campus,” said Vidrine. “Coach Byrnes and his staff were very receptive to me. The facilities are top notch and the campus is easy to get around. I am also very close to home and that will allow my family to come and watch me play.”
Academics also played a role in Vidrine’s decision. “Louisiana College, being a four-year school, will allow me to stay in one place and get my degree,” stated Vidrine. “I plan on majoring in business administration and hopefully take over my family’s business one day.”
As far as his role aspart of the Wildcat diamond family next season, Vidrine is humble in expectations.
“I plan on learning as much as possible next season,” commented Vidrine. “As a freshman, I know I have a lot to learn. I will be ready to play any role that the coaching staff sees fit. I know one thing is for sure, I need to get stronger.”
If history is any indication, Vidrine will most definitely be one of the hardest workers for the Wildcats the next four years. He has proven this throughout his whole baseball career.
