It is always a good sign for a program when you can have multiple players sign to continue their careers on the next level.
Such is the case with Ville Platte High, as former players Terez Alfred and Vondarius Freeman both signed letters of intent to take their game one step farther.
Alfred, a four year player at Ville Platte, has decided that Louisiana College is the place for him to continue playing the game he loves.
“Being able to play on the next level is a blessing,” stated Alfred. “Not everyone gets the opportunity to play on the college level. It is something I will cherish and am excited to be able to do.”
In his senior year, Alfred was known for his ability to play in all three phases of the game.
The multi-talented player could be found at several positions, including quarterback, running back, receiver and defensive back.
Alfred was also a huge threat on special teams as a kick returner.
The speedy Alfred collected 335 yards as a passer and 337 yards as a runner. He also caught five passes for 49 yards. All told, Alfred scored 11 touchdowns in 2015.
Freeman will take his talents to Southwest Mississippi Community College this fall.
“The campus feels like home to me,” stated Freeman. “I love the atmosphere. I can picture myself right now on the campus as a student and an athlete. It’s not that far from here, so it allows my family to come and watch me play.”
Freeman was a force to be reckoned with in his two years at Ville Platte High.
The transfer from Texas in his junior year took full advantage of his talents with the Bulldogs, earning the District 5-3A and the Evangeline Parish defensive MVP award two years in a row.
In his senior year, Freeman tormented opposing offenses, recording 90 tackles; 34 of those were for losses.
The monster defensive end totaled 15 sacks, eight caused fumbles, five fumble recoveries and one interception in 2015. Every team he faced had to double and triple team him in their game plan.
Ville Platte High head coach Jorie Randle was really excited for both Alfred and Freeman.
“This two young men deserved this chance to play on the next level,” said Randle. “Not only are they great players, but they are also great people. I know that they will represent their parents and Ville Platte in an amazing manner.”
