GUEYDAN – Services for Hilda Rose Smith, 79, will be Wednesday April 2, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Mitchell Guidry officiating. She died March 30, 2008 at 8:50 p.m. at the Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. She was the daughter of Joseph and Eva Trahan LaPointe, born in Morse.

A rosary was said at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Interment will be in the Gueydan Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was a nurses aid for the Gueydan Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Bob Smith of Morse and Francis Smith of Morse; one daughter, JoAnn Trahan and her husband Jerald of Gueydan; and one brother; Joseph “Buster” LaPoint of Gueydan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew “Andy” Smith, Sr.; one son, Andrew “Andy” Smith, Jr.; two grandsons, Heith Carl Smith and William Patrick James; one brother, Henry Navarre; and four sisters, Hazel Leeper, Ada Sonnier, Irene Gaspard and Matilda Navarre.

Serving as pallbearers will be Skippy Smith, Francis Smith, Jr., Deany Smith, Brian Smith, Jerald Trahan, Jr., Rene’ Ennis and Heather Istre.

Visitation took place Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan.
