How your legislators are voting

The Louisiana legislature is in session for Gov. Bobby Jindal's ethics reform special session. Here’s how the St. Martin delegation voted on issues directly impacting citizens.

Rep. Fred Mills Jr., St. Martinville, voted for:

•HB 1 — Would require certain public servants and candidates for certain offices to disclose certain financial information. The measure was passed by a vote of 102-1; now moves to Senate.

•HB 41 — Shifts the authority to rule on ethics violations from the Louisiana Board of Ethics to administrative law judges. The bill passed 95-3; moves to Senate.

•HB 43 — Would prohibit ethics law violators from paying fines from campaign accounts. Passed 101-0. Moves to Senate.

•HB 64 — Would require public officials to disclose if they publicly employ people tied to their campaigns. Bill passed 65-35; moves to Senate.

•HB 65 — Would prohibit an individual with outstanding ethics fines from qualifying as a candidate for elected office. Passed unanimously 102-0. Bill moves to Senate.

Sen. Troy Hebert, New Iberia, voted for:

•SB 1 — Would prohibit all legislators from establishing contracts with state businesses. Passed 36-1. Moves to House.

•SB 3 — Would prohibit all elected officials from accepting gifts of free admission to cultural and sporting events. Bill moves to House for debate.

•SB 8 — Prohibits lobbyists from giving a public servant a thing of economic value from offering food, drink or refreshment valued at greater than $50. Passed 38-0. Bill moves to House for debate.

•SB 10 — Would prohibit lobbyist from receiving funds that are contingent on the passage or failure of legislation. Passed unanimously 38-0; now moves to House for debate.

•SB 35 — Prohibits public employees from transferring assets to another entity in attempt to circumvent state ethics laws. Passed 36-0. Bill moves to House for debate.

•SB 44 — Would establish civil and criminal penalties for violations of laws relative to meetings of public bodies and public records, including discipline and termination or removal of public employees and certain public officials. Passed 37-0. Moves to House for debate.

•SB 44 — Prohibits certain public servants and former public servants from representing persons for compensation before certain governmental entities or its officials. Passed 39-0. Moves to House.
