The city of Crowley was recently mentioned in an article in the Preservation periodical. In an article called “The Four Point Approach to Successful Main Street Program Starts with Organization”, the Crowley welcome sign at the intersection of Eastern and Hutchinson Avenues. is pictured along with a sign to its left designating Crowley as a Louisiana Main St. Community.
The article went in depth about achieving the goal of revitalizing downtowns and the steps it takes to achieve that goal. Attractive signage and logos were two of the effective strategies mentioned in the article and the sign at the Eastern/Hutchinson intersection was pictured as an example of how this tool can be effective.
The article was the first in a four-part series by the periodical with the subject being the “organization” aspect of the approach. The next three articles will be pertaining to promotion, design, and economic restructuring. Valerie Gaumont was the article’s writer.
