Imagination becoming reality
By Jamie Anfenson-Comeau
The campaign to bring Imagination Library to Eunice has raised close to $10,000 towards its $30,000 goal, Jean McManus announced to the Eunice Kiwanis Club last week.
The campaign received a big boost towards its goal of giving books to all children in Eunice between birth and five years when Wal-Mart handed McManus a giant check for $5,000 last week.
Since then, McManus has been tirelessly going around to shore up support for the program while getting the word out to parents of young children.
McManus hopes to get every child in Eunice under five signed up, hence the $30,000 goal.
Organizations that have donated $500 or more will have their names embossed on the program brochure.
Organizations that have pledged at least that amount include the Junior Auxiliary, Eunice Rotary and Kiwanis clubs and the United Way, as well as others.
The campaign has a kickoff party scheduled for April 12 at 10 a.m. at Eunice City Hall, to be emceed by “Good Morning Acadiana” host Tom Voinche.
“It’s really going to be big,” McManus said enthusiastically.
