Jays fall to Jennings

Taking a break from district action over the weekend, the St. Edmund Blue Jays dropped a 9-1 decision to the Class 3A Jennings Bulldogs.

Jennings (17-7; 6-0) drew first blood in the bottom of the second inning, breaking out for four runs.

St. Eds narrowed Jennings’ lead to 4-1 in the top of the fourth inning, but were unable to leash the Bulldogs as they broke out for another four runs in the second half.

Jennings added one insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.

Starting pitcher Wesley Richard took the loss for the Jays, giving up four earned runs off of four hits and a walk during the first three innings of the game.
