Jones announces ceremony
CROWLEY – Today, Mayor Greg Jones announced the City of Crowley will host a groundbreaking ceremony for phase one
of the Historic Parkerson Avenue Redevelopment Avenue Project on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. in front of City Hall.
The Historic Parkerson Avenue Redevelopment Project, initiated under former Mayor Isabella de la Houssaye, includes street and sidewalk improvements and will restore the historic character of downtown. Most importantly, it will spawn an economic and cultural revitalization of the downtown district.
The design will also support and enhance the recent restoration of the New Crowley City Hall in the Ford Building and the Grand Opera House of the South.
Phase one of the project will begin at the Acadia Parish Court Circle and continue to Second Street. Construction is expected to be completed by September of 2009.
A reception at Crowley City Hall will follow the ground breaking. The public is invited to attend both events.
