JULES S. FONTENOT, JR.
April 19, 1926 - July 5, 2016
MAMOU– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, for Jules S. Fontenot, Jr., 90 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Peter’s Cemetery with Father Kenneth Mayne as Celebrant.
Fontenot passed away on July 5, 2016 at 8:10 A.M. at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.
Fontenot proudly served his country in the United States Army as a French translator in “occupied” France during World War II.
He and his wife were married for 71 years, and they loved fishing and playing cards with friends.
A loving, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Fontenot will be greatly missed by his; two sons Donald Fontenot and wife, Sara of Pineville, and Mark Fontenot and wife, Yvette of Easton; four daughters, Dorothy Serlin and husband, Phillip of Stanton, California, Betty Vegas and husband, William of LaRose, Theresa Miller and husband, Shelton of Egan and Susan Bergeron and husband Paul of Eunice; one brother, Currie Fontenot of Tioga; 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He will now rest in Heaven with his wife, Ella Mae Guillory Fontenot, his parents, Jules and Armenia Joubert Fontenot; siblings, Orise Fontenot, Alma Arno, Earline Thompson and Thomas Fontenot; grandchildren, Kristyn Leigh Fontenot, Rebecca Sliman and Elizabeth Campbell. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
