Sacred Heart (10-7, 4-3) and Pine Prairie (18-6, 7-0) met for the second time in district Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Panthers came into the game on top of the District 6-2A standings and they wanted it to stay that way. Sacred Heart was looking to march back to the top of the ladder and unseat the girls in black and orange.

The Lady Panthers got on the board in their first trip to the plate. They scored three runs. Neither team would cross the plate again in this game. Sacred Heart pitcher Logan Hebert and Pine Prairie pitcher Chelsey Fontenot battled hard for the entire game.

Chelsea West got things going to begin the game for the Panthers. She laid down a single. She later scored on a double from Alex Deville. Emily Marcantel reached base on an error. After a fielder’s choice, it looked as if Hebert was going to get out of the inning with only one run scored against her. Fontenot came to the plate and helped her cause by delivering a single that scored both Deville and Marcantel.

Fontenot had a great day on both sides of the diamond. She was 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs. In the circle, she hurled a one-hitter and fanned 11 batters. Samantha Davenport picked up the only single of the game for Sacred Heart.

Logan Hebert went the distance for Sacred Heart. She fanned seven batters and scattered six hits.

The Lady Panthers host Port Barre in their next contest. The Lady Red Devils come to town Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Lady Trojans will travel to Opelousas Catholic to face the Lady Vikings Tuesday at 4 p.m.
