Lady Trojans tripped up by Opelousas Catholic

The Lady Trojans lost their second district contest 3-0 to Opelousas Catholic. Sacred Heart hosted the Lady Vikings Thursday in Ville Platte.

Opelousas Catholic scored two runs in the top of the third inning. The leadoff batter was plucked by a pitch. A walk and an error later, the bases were loaded. A base on balls pushed another runner across the plate. An error led to one more crossing the plate later in the inning. The Lady Vikings held a 2-0, but they would later increase that lead.

In the top of the fourth inning, a one out walk, coupled with two stolen bases put the Lady Vikings in a position to score. A single pushed her across the plate, giving the visitor’s a 3-0 lead.

The Lady Trojans got just one runner on base and that was in the bottom of the fifth inning. Courtney Ramirez got on base via an error by the OCHS first baseman.

Sacred Heart used two pitchers in the ball game. Samantha Davenport went two and one-third innings. She fanned three batters and was tapped for just one hit. Logan Hebert pitched the rest of the contest. She fanned five batters and was tapped for two hits. She gave up one earned run.

The Lady Trojans travel to Port Barre today for a crucial district tilt. This weekend they host Class 4A Beau Chene in a double-header. Next week, the Lady Trojans return to district action with a home game against Mamou.
