Leon Gaudens Ritter
IOTA – A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Leon Gaudens Ritter, 78, who died March 31, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette after a brief illness.
Fr. Mikel Polsen will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota.
Mr. Ritter was a member of the United States Air Force, and was a retired oil field and refinery worker.
He is survived by one son, Leon Jude Ritter and his wife Annette Roy of Wallisville, Texas; three daughters, Sharon Ritter LeJeune and her husband Larry, Carolyn Ritter Leger and her husband James, and Janice Ritter Hebert and her husband Joey all of Iota; one brother, Berchmans Ritter of Iota; one daughter in law, Marlene LeJeune Ritter of Iota; ten grandchildren, Scott LeJeune and his wife Shantel, Tracie L. DuBose and her husband John, Shellie L. Guidry and her husband Timmy, Nicole Leger, Kaye L. Beasley and her husband Billy, Jaimie Leger, Robin H. Pierson and her husband Oliver, Katelyn Hebert, Damon Ritter, and Amanda Ritter; nine great-grandchildren, Courtney and Taylor LeJeune, Matthew and Peyton DuBose, Mallorie Meyer, Kassidy and Adley Guidry, and Christian and Lance Beasley; and two sisters in law Shirley D. Lopez of Jennings, and Brenda D. Benoit of Lake Charles; and host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ritter is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Doucet Ritter, two sons, Michael “Snake” Ritter, and Raymond Gregory Ritter; and his parents, Butler and Nora Pousson Ritter; and three sisters, Bernadine Ritter Daigle, Eva Rose Ritter Hinchee, and Hilda Ritter Miller Simar.
Pallbearers will be Jude Ritter, Damon Ritter, Larry LeJeune, Scott LeJeune, James Leger, and Joey Hebert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Berchmans Ritter, Timmy Guidry, Adley Guidry, Billy Beasley, John DuBose, Matthew DuBose, and Oliver Pierson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Iota.
