31st annual Boggy Bayou Queen crowned

Ashlyn Soileau, the 19-year-old daughter of Mitch and Angela Soileau of Ville Platte, was crowned Boggy Bayou’s 31st queen on Saturday, April 11, during the annual pageant and festival held at the fairgrounds.
Soileau, who is a student at Louisiana State University at Eunice, is employed with student support services at LSUE and has her own Mary Kay company. She enjoys singing, dancing, writing and working out. Soileau was also voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants. Outgoing queen Torian Paige Veillon of Ville Platte crowned her successor.
Placing as first runner-up to the new queen was Bethany Renee Thibodeaux, the 17-year old daughter of Britt Thibodeaux and Bridgette Deville. She is a senior at Oberlin High School.
Lynee’ West, the 17-year-old daughter of Quint and Roxane West of Pine Prairie, was named second runner-up in the contest. She is a senior at Pine Prairie High School.
Skye Bryant, of Bayou Chicot, was crowned Ms. Boggy Bayou for 2015. She is married to Colin Bryant and is the mother of two children: Connor and Gillian Bryant. She is employed with Kim’s Total Image. She was crowned by outgoing Ms. Queen Brittany Bordelon of St. Landry.
Placing as first runner-up to the new Ms. queen was Britni Fruge, the wife of David Fruge of Pine Prairie. She is the mother of two daughters, Layla and Lauryn Fruge. She is a student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she is majoring in elementary education.
Tammy Fontenot, the wife of Logan Fontenot of Pine Prairie, was named second runner-up in the contest. She is the mother of two daughters, Kayleigh and Alyssa Fontenot.
Sami Jo Welch, a sixth grader at Bayou Chicot Elementary, provided music for the pageant. She is the daughter of Todd and Cindy Welch of Pine Prairie.
Billy Campbell, who served on the Boggy Bayou Festival Board for 15 years, was crowned king during the pageant. He is a retired business owner and is married to the former Mandy Johnson. He was crowned by outgoing queen, Torian Paige Veillon. His daughter, Tara LaFleur, presented his festival plaque, and outgoing Ms. Queen Brittany Bordelon presented the scepter to him.
Special guests, who sat on stage during the pageant, were Senior Boggy Bayou King Archie Rollins and Senior Queen Carroll Emmons.
Judging the pageant this year were former Boggy Bayou Queens: Kylie Burnett Fontenot; Kellie Stagg; and Emily Miguez.
