Catholic Daughters enjoy Christmas activities
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its Christmas social Wednesday, December 3, at the Sacred Heart meeting room. Each member brought food items for the court’s food baskets and toys for needy children. The Cajunettes Homemakers club gave a monetary donation for the annual food baskets of the local CDA court.
A short meeting led by Regent Barbara Delafosse preceded the social. A video was shown of children acting out a Cajun Christmas based on a poem written by the late Karen Lynn Lafleur, daughter of court member Faye Lafleur. A delicious meal and camaraderie was enjoyed by the members and door prizes were awarded.
On December 9, the CDA court members met at the Sacred Heart meeting room to make Christmas cards for nursing home residents. On December 11, members hosted a Christmas party at Heritage Manor. Cookies and soft drinks were served to the residents, who enjoyed the visit.
On December 23, the CDA members will shop for and fill the food baskets, which will be given to the needy that day. Carrie Deville and a group of ladies from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ville Platte will deliver toys to needy children.
Members are reminded to pay dues at the January 7, meeting. The court also will vote on the Catholic Daughter of the Year at the January meeting. The recipient of the Catholic Daughter of the Year honor will be announced at the February meeting.
The Catholic Daughters wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
