Catholic Daughters hold first meeting of new year

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its first meeting of 2016 on Wednesday, January 6, in the church meeting room with Regent Barbara Delafosse officiating.
The Louisiana Catholic Daughters organization will be holding two retreats. The first one will be held January 29-30, in Schriever; and the second one will be held February 26-27, at Camp Lake Arthur in Lake Arthur. Members interested in attending one of these retreats may get more information by calling Delafosse at 224-7795.
Leah Hollier, chairman for the Christmas food basket and toy drive, sent a letter explaining the great success of these projects. Those who served on the committee were thanked for giving their time during the busy Christmas season. Special thanks were given to Carrie Deville and her sisters and friends from St. Joseph Catholic Church who helped with this activity.
January club activities include bingo at the nursing home on January 14, making valentines for nursing home residents on January 21, and installation mass for new members at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on January 27. The announcement of the Catholic Daughter of the Year also will held that day, followed by a reception and pot luck supper in the science lab at Sacred Heart Elementary School.
The February meeting will be held February 3.
Several thank you cards for spiritual bouquets received were read. Plans were made for the annual installation mass and supper. The meeting was closed with a prayer.
