Catholic Daughters hold monthly meeting
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 8, with Regent Barbara Delafosse officiating. She opened the meeting with prayers and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The February meeting will be a mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a banquet following at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Family Life Center on Wednesday, February 5. Ten new members will be formally installed at the mass. The mass and banquet also will celebrate the court’s 60th anniversary.
Two new members were sworn in at the January meeting, Sandra Dupre and Jackie Spears.
Barbara Vidrine explained the spiritual bouquet program to the new members, and other members were reminded of their day for prayer assignments.
Leah Hollier reported on the huge success of the court’s Christmas food baskets and children’s toy drive. Twelve food baskets were distributed to needy families and 411 children were given Christmas presents. Hollier thanked the court members, community donors and Carrie Deville and her sister, Barbara, who distributed the gifts.
The Scott Catholic Daughters requested help with the annual ordination reception for the eight new priests who will be ordained during a June ceremony. A committee will attend and bring cakes to the event.
All Catholic Daughters were reminded that the annual dues are being collected now and should be paid before the March meeting.
