Catholic Daughters hold monthly meeting
Paul Schexnayder with the Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care Center was the guest speaker at the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, meeting held Wednesday, March 12, at the Sacred Heart meeting room. He explained how hospice care works, noting care can be received in a hospital, at home or in a nursing home five days per week. Hospice care is a division of LSU Medical Center and has been in the parish for 21 years. Hospice volunteers are welcomed and can be trained to work with this program. Local people are nurses for hospice and come when they are called. More information on hospice can be obtained by calling 468-0364.
A French Retreat also was held March 12, with Father Richard Vidrine presiding. The retreat was a success and many older people were in attendance.
A nominating committee was appointed to select nominees for next year’s officers.
Plans are being made for the annual Salad-Bingo fund raiser set for June 11. Tickets will be available at the May meeting, and volunteers for different positions will be chosen at the next meeting.
Members with a birthday in March were wished a Happy Birthday.
Those interested in buying a Catholic Daughters shirt were given forms to order one.
Members were reminded dues should be paid by April.
Refreshments were served after the meeting was closed with a prayer.
