Catholic Daughters hold monthly meeting

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 9, in the church meeting room, with Regent Barbara Delafosse officiating. Court chaplain Father Matthew Barzare was in attendance. The meeting was opened with the reading of A Lenten Prayer asking for forgiveness for the sins of impatience, harsh criticism, negativity and participation in the wrong activities.
The court held a Valentine’s Day party for the residents of Heritage Manor. The residents enjoyed the homemade cards and the good food. Plans were made for the monthly bingo games at the nursing home.
The annual French Retreat was held March 9, at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church Family Life Center. Father Richard Vidrine led the retreat. Those in attendance were able to receive the sacraments of confession, holy communion and anointing of the sick if they chose. They also participated in a special French mass. Verna Guillory served as chairman for the event which is enjoyed by the elderly.
Regent Barbara Delafosse and members Darlene Roberie, Kathy Coldiron, Connie Vidrine, Janice Soileau, Barbara Vidrine and Carolyn Perrodin recently attended a CDA leadership workshop and retreat in Lake Arthur.
A nominating committee will be chosen at the April meeting to select new officers for the coming year. Also after the April meeting, the court will have an ice cream party. Members are asked to bring a topping of their choice. Court dues are to be paid before the end of March.
The court will host its annual Salad-Bingo fund raiser on Tuesday, June 7, at the Northside Civic Center.
The meeting was closed with a prayer and members enjoyed crackers and cheese during the social hour.
